FEE SCHEDULE ALERT!! With virtually no input from the industry and with little recognition given to historic data provided to the Division of Workers' Compensation by CSIMS, the DWC has proposed to convert the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) from its current relative value system and ground rules to one based on the Resource Based Relative Value System (RBRVS) used by Medicare. The Division of Workers' Compensation's proposal, published a couple of weeks ago threatens the viability of your practice with adoption of a Medicare-based fee schedule. This proposal guarantees that The impact of CSIMS needs your partnership and support to fight for a fee schedule that will make up for more than 15 years of progressively lower and lower reimbursement while demanding more work and a higher level of expertise with each new regulatory requirement. Please help grow CSIMS' voice and membership today! If you need proof that we must grow our voice more than ever before, just read what will occur if the proposed fee schedule becomes law: • For the next four years (until 2013 and perhaps beyond) no new revenue will be available for medical treatment costs in • For most physicians, the first year conversion factor will be just under 105% of 2010 California Medicare. • No adjustment will be provided for future cost inflation - ever. • Not having far to go, • By 2013, no provider will receive more than 116% of 2010 California Medicare rates - unadjusted for inflation and certainly not taking into account political decisions during that span of time. • A modest inflation rate of 3.5% will take the 2013 reimbursement back down to the first year level of just under 105% or lower! • You may not be able to practice occupational medicine any longer • These facts are just the tip of the iceberg.
